A Galaxy Not Far Away: Recent Advances and Future Aims in the Management of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Dr. Fraidenburg will describe the basics of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension in scleroderma (SSc-PAH) including how it is diagnosed. He will also discuss current therapies used to treat SSc-PAH and recent advances in the therapeutic approach. His presentation will also highlight current research and future targets in the management of SSc-PAH. Michael Brown, MD
Managing Gastrointestinal Manifestations of Scleroderma Did you know that 95% of scleroderma patients have issues with their GI tract? Dr. Brown will discuss scleroderma’s effect on the GI tract and what can be done about it. Dr. Brown will share tips and treatment options for various symptoms including esophageal disorders, constipation, incontinence and other digestion issues. He’ll also discuss testing that is important for scleroderma patients to receive. Jason Ko, MD, MBA
Current Therapies to Improve Hand Symptoms: Know your Options Nearly all scleroderma patients experience issues with the hands. Dr. Ko will discuss the latest in both surgical and non-surgical options to help resolve hand issues related to scleroderma. He'll also give an overview of such issues and what to look out for including Raynaud’s phenomenon, ulcers, and ischemia. |

Yoga can benefit your internal organs, improve circulation and reduce stress. Our certified “Yoga for Scleroderma” instructors will show you how to improve symptoms related to scleroderma such as tight hands, digestion issues and balance. They’ll show you how to utilize yoga even while sitting in a chair and demonstrate certain tools that can be used to modify some stretches. You’ll go home with simple ideas you can incorporate into your daily life to feel your best. |

Discussion for Caregivers and Family Members If you're the family member or friend of someone who has been diagnosed with scleroderma, you may have a lot of questions about this complex disease. While scleroderma can be a very overwhelming diagnosis for both the patient and his or her family and friends, we have created this workshop specifically to help answer your questions and discuss the support role that you play. As a family member or friend, you may also fill the role of caregiver. You will also have a chance to discuss how to be a more effective partner and assistant. |
